Placenta encapsulation

Why it makes sense:

Over the 40ish weeks of pregnancy your hormones build and adjust to your body and its needs while the pregnancy progresses. When you deliver, all of the hormones that took 40 weeks, leave your body within a matter of days starting on or around day 3. You'll notice the shift and you may experience being weepy, short tempered, anxious and or generally sad without explanation. 

Benefits:

1. Prevents or reduces postpartum depression symptoms
2. Stabilize Hormones by allowing your body to wean back to normal hormone levels
3. Restores iron levels in your body which increases your energy levels 
4. Can increase milk supply by increasing oxytocin and reducing cortisol levels

Placentas that CAN NOT be processed:  

1. If you develop a fever in labor more than 100.4
2. Cholestasis of Pregnancy
3. Heavy smoking during pregnancy
4. Cancer of the placenta

Company policies:

Megan the Doula will retrieve your placenta from your place of delivery unless otherwise necessary. A non-refundable $25 reservation fee is required to reserve encapsulation services. The balance is to be paid at pick up. If your placenta cannot be encapsulated due to circumstances of labor and delivery, no fees will be charged.
